Hello...Intro, and God's Faithfullness

Hello! I just became a member of this blog a few days ago, so I thought I'd do a post to introduce myself:

I am Mellimaus....well, of course that's not my real name, but eventually you'll probably figure out my real first name, if you don't already know it. Anyway, I am a teenager....I live on a 'farm' where we have 10 chickens of various kinds, one dog, 3 cats, a hamster, and my quarter horse mare, Daisy. (I have a blog for her here)...I've been a Christian since I was 6 years old, when a personal crisis 'hit' our family. The crisis was pretty bad, but God makes beauty out of ashes, and through it we became true Christians and followers of God. We (my mom and my two brothers--my dad was an athiest) were catholic beforehand, now we ALL attend a non-denominational, Bible teaching church(my dad became 'saved', thank you Jesus!). My mom is also the coordinator of a Teen Community Bible Study on Wednesday nights in our town that I am a part of....so yeah...I also play the violin, and I LOVE to read, and my favorite subject in school is Social studies.

Today in church we learned about God's faithfulness...John 14:18 reads " I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you". Every week in our teen group during the church service we read over our homework, which is to read a chapter in John, and fill out a little paper about it...It's pretty loose, you write about what Jesus does in the chapter and what you think is cool about the chapter type of thing. I put this verse down because really, God is so faithful. He brought my family through some hard times. It's cool how when you pray for something, you want to get it, and you're disappointed when you don't get what you prayed for. Later on, God answers your prayer, but in a bigger picture....He alters it to make it even better...do you get what I mean? :D It's hard to explain. God's plan is so much better then ours. People, I do anyway, always want to be in charge, when we should let God do the leading because He doesn't see just the now, He sees the future....I hope you guys don't think I'm totally boring and am rambling!

I probably won't post a ton on this blog, once a week, but I post about twice a week on my other blog, http://ridingdaisy.blogpot.com, in case any of you are interested! :D

Have a good week!

Oh, just saw that there's a Christian artists list on the side of the blog...Have you guys ever listened to "Delirious?" (question mark is part of the band name)...they're a REALLY GREAT Christian band. My favorite! Maybe you'd like to YouTube it or something... :-)

Help?

This blog needs some help. When it was first created the original purpose was to have Biblical conversations, recommend good Christian books, movies, and music, and things like that. It isn't really working out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, please let us know if you would like to join this blog. We would love some new members!

Bible Verses in Proverbs...

Proverbs 31 (A Wife of Noble Character):

Verse 17:
She is entergetic and strong, a hard worker.

Verse 26:
When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instructions.

Verse 30:
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

Proverbs 30 (I always thought these verses were neat):

25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer;

26 coneys are creatures of little power,
yet they make their home in the crags;

27 locusts have no king,
yet they advance together in ranks;

28 a lizard can be caught with the hand,
yet it is found in kings’ palaces.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight

Proverbs 10:5
He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son,
but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son

Proverbs 10:19
When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 12:16
A fool shows his annoyance at once,
but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 20:3
It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel.

Proverbs 21:23
He who guards his mouth and his tongue
keeps himself from calamity.

Proverbs 23:13-14
Do not withhold discipline from a child;
if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
Punish him with the rod
and save his soul from death

Prayer

One thing that is amazing in my life is prayer. It's helped me a lot. Sometimes it's confusing when prayers aren't answered the way you want them to be. But I am reading a book and it had an analogy in it that is really good.

The book I'm reading is Letters From A Skeptic. It is letters that a father and son sent to each other. The son's a Christian and the father's not. The son the trying to teach his dad about God. So his dad ask questions and the son answers them. It is an intersting book but it is hard for me to read. But a part stuck out.

I don't remember exactly what it was but it was like an American family was living in Europe during WWI or WW2. And their dad/husband was the general of the American forces and there is a battle around where the house is. The family has a radio to communicate with the general. They ask for supplies and say that they are hurt. But if the father goes to help them thousands might die. He can see the big picture but they can't. All they see is what is outside the small windows of the cottage. The general would like the help the family, he loves them, but he can tell what is happening in the whole battle and he knows what is best. It may be hard for him.

God's our father and He cares for us. But He can see the whole picture and we can't. We can only see a small part. He loves us and wants to help us but he knows what is best. We may not understand why our cries and prayers aren't being answered but there is a reason.

I hope that made sence. It really was amazing for me to read that. I hope it is the same way for you.

Bible Verses

Well, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd post a few Bible verses my mom hung up above the computer desk:

The Lord is my confidence and will keep me from danger.
Proverbs 3:26

The Lord is my strength and my peace. (Not sure what book or verse)

I will speak good words today to ward off anxiety and depression.
Proverbs 12:25

I will use soft answers today to turn away wrath - no harsh words.
Proverbs 15:1

I have power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases through Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:1
^I like that one. It just sounds cool!
Below are a few verses from Romans I found in my moms King James Version:

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14

But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:3-6

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

Well, I guess that's enough for now.
I'll post a.s.a.p!

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

I delight to do your will, O God;
indeed, your law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:8

Whoever trusts in the Lord,
happy is he.
Proverbs 16:20

What Water Symbolizes... Life?

I asked on a previous post what y'all think water symbolizes. Most of you said that it symbolizes "life" ~ a conclusion I had already come to, but wasn't really sure. So in saying that, you confirmed that.

Water symbolizing life makes since because if you think about it, without water there would be no life. What water and life has to do with me I don't exactly know...
But please tell me if you think of anything else.

Misha said: In the Bible it says something about Living Water, and this one king in the Bible got healed of his leprosy by dipping himself in the Jordan River

Hannah said: Water symbolizes Christian life. Then "come to the river of life and be restored or something along that line"

Zuzu said: In the Bible water basically symbolizes life. As for water being used to describe someone, they probably meant that you are calm, peaceful, graceful, and quiet. So yeah, I guess it is a compliment.

And Sapphira asked if I perceived that as a complement. I don't really know actually. When I first heard it, I was like cool and took it for a compliment. Then I got curious and decided to investigate further.

My friend (who is "like fire") and I like to tease each other about it. Like she'll say, "I make you boil"
I said, "Well, I can put you out!!!"

lol! It was funny!

Thanks for all the feedback! :)
