~My Faith is in You~

This is a psalm I wrote back in October for a school assignment. I posted it on my other blog also, so you may have read it before. I have written several, but no, you can't read them. :) Let me know what you think of this one though.

~

At times when troubles come,
at times I don’t understand,
and at times when I feel all alone,
I will put my trust in You.

I know not yet Your plans for me.
An unfinished picture is all I can see.

Your plans are like this picture -
created beautifully by Your own hand.

Yet all I see are tiny pieces,
of this unfinished puzzle.
These pieces are scattered about…
seemingly incomplete.

On my own these pieces…
can never become that picture,
so I must put my trust in You!

For without You I would be nothing.
In You I am complete!

Lord, I know You have a purpose for me,
one through faith I seek to fulfill.

I will go where You lead me,
and do as You command.

Because, Lord I know You love me,
and I surrender my life to You.
I believe You will guide me,
and protect me wherever I go.

For all this I give You thanks!
and praise You for all the things You’ve done!

Thankful For...

I am so sorry for the lack of posting! Apparently everyone has been pretty busy.

Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I thought I would start a "What you are thankful for" tag. You list as many things as you can think of on your blog of what you are thankful for. Instead of only tagging certain people, I have decided that everyone can do it. Feel free to leave a comment on this post if you decide to do it.

Here is my list...

1.) That Jesus died for me
2.) A Wonderful family
3.) The best friends I could ever ask for
4.) All my Internet friends
5.) Food and water
6.) A house to live in
7.) More clothes than I probably even need
8.) An education, even if it isn't very much fun
9.) Electricity
10.) My five little kitties
11.) Our dogs (I didn't say I "liked" them. I said I am thankful for them... mainly because they are "guard dogs" though... lol!)
12.) My keyboard
13.) My harp

I could probably come up with more, but I need to go...

New Look...

As you can see, I changed the template because I wanted it to have three columns (Hope you don't mind Mackenzie).

I also added a link list. If your blog is on there and you want it taken off, just tell us. Or if your blog is not on there and you want it to be, feel free to tell us that also.

Well, this post isn't exactly that important, so scroll down and read the posts below...

"You Are Everything"

Here is a song that I really love and the lyrics are beautiful.

You Are Everything, By Matthew West

I'm the one with two left feet,
standing on a lonely street,
I can't even walk a straight line.
And every time you look at me,
I'm spinning like an autumn leaf,
Bound to hit bottom some time.

[bridge]
Where would I be without someone to save me,
Someone who won't let me fall?

[chorus]
You are everything that I live for,
Everything that I can't believe is happening
You're standing right in front of me,
With arms wide open, all I know
Is everyday is filled with hope
'Cause You are everything that I breathe for,
And I can't help but breathe You in, and breathe again,
Feeling all this life within, every single beat of my heart.

I'm the one with big mistakes, big regrets,
And bigger breaks than I'd ever care to confess.
Ah, but You're the one who looks at me
And sees what I was meant to be,
More than just a beautiful mess.

[bridge]

[chorus]

You're everything good in my life,
Everything honest and true.
And all of those stars hanging up in the sky
Could never shine brighter than You.

[chorus]

You are, oh You are,
Jesus, You are,
You are everything

I hope you all enjoy it just as much as I do! =)

Esther 4:14/Comfort Zones/Such a Time as This

"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" ~Esther 4:14

This verse is the response Mordecai gave Esther when she explained to him that the punishment for appearing before the king without being summoned was death. The only way she could live to see the next hour, was if the king were to hold out his golden scepter to her. That was when Mordecai explained to her that she could have been placed in that position at just that time for a purpose... the purpose of saving the Jews from complete annihilation.

Thoughts...

Can you imagine the courage it took to do something like that? What would have happened if she didn't do what God had called her to do? All the Jews (including herself) would have been killed.

I have been thinking a lot about having the courage to step out of your comfort zone. Do Hard Things by Brett and Alex Harris has a whole chapter on it titled, "That First Scary Step" (I mentioned this a couple posts back). Here are some things I highlighted:

"If we take that first scary step despite feeling uncomfortable, afraid, or inadequate, our comfort zones expand. We grow in strength and skill. What we consider normal changes, sometimes radically."

"Outside my comfort zone, I learned to lean on God for strength instead of leaning on the small pleasures of this world for comfort. Outside my comfort zone, I found that I could serve God more fully and use all of my talents unreservedly for Him."

"Until we make that first step in spite of our fears, none of us will ever truly be able to do hard things."

"The First Step is always the hardest"

"Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to an unknown God."

It is usually so hard to step out in courage and faith to do something out of your comfort zone. No matter what it is, big or small, it can still be difficult. Believe me, I know. It took me I don't know how long before I would step out of my comfort zone and sing for just one single person! lol! I am thinking that that would classify as a very small comfort zone step (In other words, it was in reality a small insignificant thing). Regardless to that, it wasn't easy at all.

The truth is, even small steps out of your comfort zone may lead to something much, much bigger. You may not even realize it at the time, but God may use one small thing you do for Him and turn it into something greater than you ever imagined! However, if you never make that first step... that one small step, you may miss something incredible that God has planned for your life.

This is something I have to remember a lot because I have a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone at times.

One more thing...

Below is my paper on Esther. If you read it, please tell me what you think! :)

For Such a Time as This...

At the time I knew not why. I also knew not how. However, there was one thing I did know - that my life would never be the same again. I was placed in a position I never imagined I would have. Little did I know, God had chosen me to occupy that position at just the right time for a purpose. Yes, He chose me, Esther, just an ordinary girl, to save the lives of many people... Read more

Philippians 4:13

I did not take this picture, I found it on google.com....I did the editing, though, on picnik.com. Check out the website! It's great!!!!:)

This is my all-time favorite verse. Plain, I know, but I love it. :) It's very encouraging.

Haven't posted in a while so here is one.

I went to camp this summer and heard about a book called Do Hard Things. It is really cool. I read the book and actually just finished it today but I loved it. I will probably read it again. It was a really good book I would recomend it. Also you can go here to see the website. It is really cool. There is also a modesty survey that was very intersting. I really don't have that much to say. Bye and I hope you check out the Rebelution.

No Matter What ~ Jeremy Camp

I know that every time
I find the one thing that holds me back inside
I want to tear apart
And bring my selfish pleasures at your feet
Every part of me is an offering,
I will set forth and lay it down at your throne
Because I live for you alone

[CHORUS]
No matter what it takes I will offer,
Everything I am I give to you
Even unto death I will follow,
No matter what the price I will give to you now

I won't throw this time I have aside,
Your the very prize I have in sight,
You've placed this purpose down in me,
And it burns so deep
Let this life I lead bring you all the glory,
I'm entrusted with a gift that I can't hide
Revive my heart, revive my mind

To live is to really die
I will keep this steady pace,
Until that final day

Verse Posted By Susan

This verse was posted by Susan...

No one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself if fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
~ Romans 3:20-26
(New Living Translation)

And here are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs...

Incomplete it all began
The broken state that I was in
I wished that I was someone else
Cause’ I was lost inside myself
I started seeing who I am
The day my life with you began
You clearly solved the mystery
That finding you meant finding me.

God, I’ve fallen to my knees
I’m bowing at your feet
I give you all of me
In you I am complete
It’s all because of love
I’m not who I was
I’m who I’m meant to be
In you I am complete

God who doesn’t need at all
I heard your voice I felt Your call
It’s echoing I can not shake you off.
The stars that shine they bear your name
They sing the song that gives you praise
You’ve captured me
My heart is lifting off

I’ve got to tell the world about the things
You’ve done
I want to shout it out, I’m going to live it now
Amazing grace is why I’m singing

I love that song called, "Complete"! It is from the new Kutless album - "To Know that You're Alive". Aren't the words great?

And finally, does anyone have any thoughts on post topics or discussions we could start having on this blog? I would love to see this blog pick up again and see it encourage those who read it. Let me know if any of you have any ideas.

What Different People Said..

Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Esther 4:14
And who knows but that you have come to this royal position for such a time as this?

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Leviticus 11:12
Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Great verses!

And here's some of my favorites ~

1 Peter 3:3-4
3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

Hebrews 12:1
Let us strip off every weight that slows us down… And let us run with endurance the race that God has set out before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus on whom our faith depends from the start to the finish.

The verse above really helped me one day. You can read about it HERE

John 15:18-19
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12

I am way overdue a post on here...

These verses really stuck out to me when I was doing my Bible reading one night.

Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12
See, my servant will prosper;
he will be highly exalted.
But many were amazed when they saw him.
His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human,
and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.
And he will startle many nations.
Kings will stand speechless in his presence.
For they will see what they had not been told;
they will understand what they had not heard about
Who has believed our message?
To whom has the LORD revealed his powerful arm?
My servant grew up in the LORD’s presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.

He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the LORD laid on him
the sins of us all.
He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet he never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.
Unjustly condemned,
he was led away.

No one cared that he died without descendants,
that his life was cut short in midstream.
But he was struck down
for the rebellion of my people.
He had done no wrong
and had never deceived anyone.
But he was buried like a criminal;
he was put in a rich man’s grave.
But it was the LORD’s good plan to crush him
and cause him grief.
Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,
he will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life,
and the LORD’s good plan will prosper in his hands.
When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
he will be satisfied.

And because of his experience,
my righteous servant will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous,

for he will bear all their sins.
I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier,
because he exposed himself to death.
He was counted among the rebels.
He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

Lifehouse Everything Skit

Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER.

This movie is slightly, umm...advanced? Gruesome? for some people, but I still recommend you watch it.

In the beginning of the movie, the girl is walking with God, and He is giving her everything she needs. He is blessing her with various things and making her happy. Then she gets tempted and sins with a man, and gets tempted by the world and Satan with money, alcohol, beauty, and other things. She has turned far from God, and you notice as you watch the Jesus in the movie, that He is "pulling for her" the whole time, even as she sins and "falls short of the glory of God". As she is tempted to commit suicide she remembers Jesus and tries to run for him, but the worldly things hold her back. However, Jesus fights for her as she sits and praises God, and eventually the things that tempted her are gone, because God helped her. Notice how in the beginning of the movie she wears a black shirt? At the end it's white because Jesus washed away her sins, and although she did some horrible things, God STILL FORGAVE HER. He just loved her in the end.

Our God is so awesome. I am always really touched when I watch this movie, because it's so moving. I got chills when I watched it again today, and I know it's because the Holy Spirit was speaking to me, and told me, that whenever we face temptations or sin in this world, WE CAN ALWAYS turn to Jesus, he will be there, helping us through anything we may face, as long as we LOVE HIM. Imagine-he's like a free life insurance, all you have to do is follow the commandments and strive to always do God's will. Man, it saddens me to think there are SO many people in this world who don't know God, don't have the nice protection of knowing Jesus as their Savior who is always there for them...

Anyway, I hoped this movie and my explanation helped you, and that the Holy Spirit may have touched you in this way. God Bless!

Good Verses

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

There are so many ads on tv and tv shows and movies portraying what the world says you should be like. But what God wants you to be is more important. It is easy to conform to the ways of the world. But in the long run that is good.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:12

God has seperated us so far from our sins.

Jeremiah 29:11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.

God has a plan for us and it may be different then what we want but God will make his way work and it will turn out for the better. We can't see the whole picture. We see only a tiny bit. And it may look strange or wrong, all messed up, but it is how it is suppose to be and is important for the whole picture to turn out how it's suppose to.

Jeremiah 1:7-8
But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

We should be bold and go where God wants us. You shouldn't be afraid because God will protect you. So you shouldn't say, "I'm too young, I can't make a difference." because you can.

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

God is with you through everything and he will get you through a hard time. So don't be afraid because God is with you.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

This is one of the most quoted verses. But we can't understand that kind of love. We're only humans. How could someone, perfect, give up his life for us? We don't deserve it. We have all sinned. We've all messed up. We all make mistakes but someone perfect died so that we wouldn't die the death that we deserve but instead we would get to live forever.

Phillipians 2: 5-11
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus has a really hard life but he didn't complain. He was humble.

Sanctus Real

Hey check out this song!

Whatever You're Doing ~ Sanctus Real

Lyrics:
It's time for healing time to move on
It's time to fix what's been broken too long
Time to make right what has been wrong
It's time to find my way to where I belong
There's a wave that's crashing over me
And all I can do is surrender

(Chorus)
Whatever You're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos but somehow there's peace
It's hard to surrender to what I can't see
but I'm giving in to something Heavenly

Time for a milestone
Time to begin again
Reevaluate who I really am
Am I doing everything to follow Your will
Or just climbing aimlessly over these hills
So show me what it is You want from me
I give everything I surrender...
To...

(Chorus)

Time to face up
Clean this old house
Time to breathe in and let everything out
That I've wanted to say for so many years
Time to release all my held back tears

Whatever You're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos but I believe
You're up to something bigger than me
Larger than life something Heavenly

Whatever You're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos but now I can see
This *is* something bigger than me
Larger than life something Heavenly
Something Heavenly

It's time to face up
Clean this old house
Time *to* breathe in and let everything out

I really like it! What do you guys think?

Prince Caspian and the Bible

NARNIA PRINCE CASPIAN AND THE BIBLE

Of all the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, Prince Caspian probably has the least spiritual aspects. In the book the Old Narnians are trying to reclaim the land that is rightfully their’s. The Talmarines took it from them. It is like the Israelites trying to get their land back after they were driven out. But the Israelites were driven out because of their sin and the Old Narnians were just kicked out. Also in the book Lucy was the only one who could see Aslan. The others didn’t believe her when she said that Aslan wanted them to go another way. They could not see Aslan because they didn’t have the faith that he was there. Lucy is the youngest so it’s like how you have to be like a child to get into the kingdom of heaven. (Luke 18: 16-17)

“But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me. Truly I tell you, whoever will not receive the kingdom like a little child will never enter it.”

Slowly the others see him. When we don’t have faith that God’s there, we can’t see Him. When we don’t believe we are blinded from the truth. (John 3:21)

“But those who live by the truth come into the light, so that they might plainly see that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

There might be more but I don’t remember them.
The movie has some that I don’t think were in the book. The theme of the book and movie with the Old Narnians trying to reclaim their land is the same. Also that Lucy is the only one to see Aslan. She sees him and turns around to tell the others. They don’t believe her and she ends up following the group instead of Aslan. We tend to do what other people say to do and follow other people than God. Later she apologizes for not following Aslan. One thing that really stuck out to me was when the White Witch appeared. Earlier in the movie Nikabrik says that he would join even the White Witch to get Narnia back. The two strange creatures come and show the White Witch and tell Prince Caspian if he gives just a drop of blood the White Witch could be released. They slice his hand with a knife and try to push him over to the White Witch so his blood would set him free. Luckily Peter and Edmund show up to help. I got the feeling while watching that scene that Peter and Prince Caspian were being tempted. Caspian seamed to resist it more. But I personally saw a look in Peter that he was tempted for some reason. She was talking to him trying to tempt him so she could be free (probably not to do any good anyway.) Luckily Edmund comes in and destroys the ice structure that the White Witch is stuck in. Since the White Witch was similar to the devil in the last movie, she is probably good and tempting people to go against what they know is right. Peter knows she is evil. After Edmund destroys the White Witch, behind where she was in the stone table area, there was an engraving (or something) of Aslan behind her. Peter looks at that. At that point I think he realizes that he was being tempted by the White Witch and should have realized what the right thing was then. The devil tries to tempt us and sometimes we give in to temptations. But we need to know that God is the right way. Also the White Witch was covering up the engraving of Aslan in the wall. So she tried to block him from seeing Aslan. That part was slightly disturbing but really good. Also when Lucy finds Aslan he tells her that he need her help. She doesn’t think she is brave enough. But Aslan knows. He said that if she was any braver that she would be a lioness. I thought of a certain verse whenever I heard that. Philippians 4:13.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

These are just my thoughts. There probably are more, but here are some that really stuck out to me. I might have forgotten all the details. I loved this movie. Not only was it a good movie, but it has spiritual aspects.

All That Matters Lyrics...

This is a really great song...

All That Matters (Addison Road)

I may never be the one that gets a second glance
I may never be the one they call the prettiest
But that's alright with me

And maybe I don't follow every crazy passion
Spend all my time trying to get a good reaction
But that's ok with me

This world is like a trampoline
High and low no in between
Jumping at the chance to please
Everyone but that's not me

Chorus (2X):
Cause all that matters is
All that matters is
I know your love has set me free
And that's all that matters to me

Some people tell me to step out and do my own thing
And others say I got to blend in just to be the same
And stop being me

But this shallow world is no longer what I'm made of
I've been changed by grace
I've been saved by love
What more do I need?

Chorus (2X)

My life comes from the One
Who made the stars and brought the sun
He loves me more than these
So I don't need another identity

Chorus (2X)

So, what do y'all think? Have any of you heard it before?

Really Good Story and Proof

I heard a story once. I don't remember it exactly but it was really good. I'll tell it how I remember it.

There were these people who were in a war in Israel. There was going to be a battle which would be very hard and they probably wouldn't win. They looked in their Bible and read that there was a spot where David or someone used to win a battle. They were in the same area so they found it with the information given in the passage and they used it to win the battle.

At camp my bible teacher talked about how there was actually proof that the Bible was accurate. In a Greek, or something, manuscript there was a note about the sky being dark in the day for a certain amount of time. It was about the time that Jesus would have died and is the same that is described in the Bible as when God forsook Jesus and it became dark. The Greek (?) manuscript described it as an eclipse.

I don't know if that made any sense but it was really good for me.

Hello...Intro, and God's Faithfullness

Hello! I just became a member of this blog a few days ago, so I thought I'd do a post to introduce myself:

I am Mellimaus....well, of course that's not my real name, but eventually you'll probably figure out my real first name, if you don't already know it. Anyway, I am a teenager....I live on a 'farm' where we have 10 chickens of various kinds, one dog, 3 cats, a hamster, and my quarter horse mare, Daisy. (I have a blog for her here)...I've been a Christian since I was 6 years old, when a personal crisis 'hit' our family. The crisis was pretty bad, but God makes beauty out of ashes, and through it we became true Christians and followers of God. We (my mom and my two brothers--my dad was an athiest) were catholic beforehand, now we ALL attend a non-denominational, Bible teaching church(my dad became 'saved', thank you Jesus!). My mom is also the coordinator of a Teen Community Bible Study on Wednesday nights in our town that I am a part of....so yeah...I also play the violin, and I LOVE to read, and my favorite subject in school is Social studies.

Today in church we learned about God's faithfulness...John 14:18 reads " I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you". Every week in our teen group during the church service we read over our homework, which is to read a chapter in John, and fill out a little paper about it...It's pretty loose, you write about what Jesus does in the chapter and what you think is cool about the chapter type of thing. I put this verse down because really, God is so faithful. He brought my family through some hard times. It's cool how when you pray for something, you want to get it, and you're disappointed when you don't get what you prayed for. Later on, God answers your prayer, but in a bigger picture....He alters it to make it even better...do you get what I mean? :D It's hard to explain. God's plan is so much better then ours. People, I do anyway, always want to be in charge, when we should let God do the leading because He doesn't see just the now, He sees the future....I hope you guys don't think I'm totally boring and am rambling!

I probably won't post a ton on this blog, once a week, but I post about twice a week on my other blog, http://ridingdaisy.blogpot.com, in case any of you are interested! :D

Have a good week!

Oh, just saw that there's a Christian artists list on the side of the blog...Have you guys ever listened to "Delirious?" (question mark is part of the band name)...they're a REALLY GREAT Christian band. My favorite! Maybe you'd like to YouTube it or something... :-)

Help?

This blog needs some help. When it was first created the original purpose was to have Biblical conversations, recommend good Christian books, movies, and music, and things like that. It isn't really working out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, please let us know if you would like to join this blog. We would love some new members!

Bible Verses in Proverbs...

Proverbs 31 (A Wife of Noble Character):

Verse 17:
She is entergetic and strong, a hard worker.

Verse 26:
When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instructions.

Verse 30:
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

Proverbs 30 (I always thought these verses were neat):

25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer;

26 coneys are creatures of little power,
yet they make their home in the crags;

27 locusts have no king,
yet they advance together in ranks;

28 a lizard can be caught with the hand,
yet it is found in kings’ palaces.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight

Proverbs 10:5
He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son,
but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son

Proverbs 10:19
When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 12:16
A fool shows his annoyance at once,
but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 20:3
It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel.

Proverbs 21:23
He who guards his mouth and his tongue
keeps himself from calamity.

Proverbs 23:13-14
Do not withhold discipline from a child;
if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
Punish him with the rod
and save his soul from death

Prayer

One thing that is amazing in my life is prayer. It's helped me a lot. Sometimes it's confusing when prayers aren't answered the way you want them to be. But I am reading a book and it had an analogy in it that is really good.

The book I'm reading is Letters From A Skeptic. It is letters that a father and son sent to each other. The son's a Christian and the father's not. The son the trying to teach his dad about God. So his dad ask questions and the son answers them. It is an intersting book but it is hard for me to read. But a part stuck out.

I don't remember exactly what it was but it was like an American family was living in Europe during WWI or WW2. And their dad/husband was the general of the American forces and there is a battle around where the house is. The family has a radio to communicate with the general. They ask for supplies and say that they are hurt. But if the father goes to help them thousands might die. He can see the big picture but they can't. All they see is what is outside the small windows of the cottage. The general would like the help the family, he loves them, but he can tell what is happening in the whole battle and he knows what is best. It may be hard for him.

God's our father and He cares for us. But He can see the whole picture and we can't. We can only see a small part. He loves us and wants to help us but he knows what is best. We may not understand why our cries and prayers aren't being answered but there is a reason.

I hope that made sence. It really was amazing for me to read that. I hope it is the same way for you.

Bible Verses

Well, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd post a few Bible verses my mom hung up above the computer desk:

The Lord is my confidence and will keep me from danger.
Proverbs 3:26

The Lord is my strength and my peace. (Not sure what book or verse)

I will speak good words today to ward off anxiety and depression.
Proverbs 12:25

I will use soft answers today to turn away wrath - no harsh words.
Proverbs 15:1

I have power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases through Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:1
^I like that one. It just sounds cool!
Below are a few verses from Romans I found in my moms King James Version:

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14

But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:3-6

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

Well, I guess that's enough for now.
I'll post a.s.a.p!

Some of My Favorite Bible Verses

I haven't posted in awhile, I just haven't really known what to post about. So I decided to post some of my favorite bible verses.

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

I delight to do your will, O God;
indeed, your law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:8

Whoever trusts in the Lord,
happy is he.

What Water Symbolizes... Life?

I asked on a previous post what y'all think water symbolizes. Most of you said that it symbolizes "life" ~ a conclusion I had already come to, but wasn't really sure. So in saying that, you confirmed that.

Water symbolizing life makes since because if you think about it, without water there would be no life. What water and life has to do with me I don't exactly know...
But please tell me if you think of anything else.

Misha said: In the Bible it says something about Living Water, and this one king in the Bible got healed of his leprosy by dipping himself in the Jordan River

Hannah said: Water symbolizes Christian life. Then "come to the river of life and be restored or something along that line"

Zuzu said: In the Bible water basically symbolizes life. As for water being used to describe someone, they probably meant that you are calm, peaceful, graceful, and quiet. So yeah, I guess it is a compliment.

And Sapphira asked if I perceived that as a complement. I don't really know actually. When I first heard it, I was like cool and took it for a compliment. Then I got curious and decided to investigate further.

My friend (who is "like fire") and I like to tease each other about it. Like she'll say, "I make you boil"
I said, "Well, I can put you out!!!"

lol! It was funny!

Thanks for all the feedback! :)

Water...

This is going to sound a little weird I know, but I was just wondering, do any of you happen to know what water symbolizes from a Biblical perspective? I looked it up on the internet and found some various results, but I am curious to know if any of you have any thoughts on it at all.
The reason? Because someone told me once that I am, "like water", so I have been wondering what exactly that is supposed to mean. One of my friends was "like fire", but I could understand that.
Well anyway, I would love to have some feedback, so please comment me and tell me what you think.

Bible Verse of The Week

Ellie, Anariel, and I have been each picking out a verse every week to send to each other through email. These are mine and Ellie's (Anariel hasn't sent hers yet):

Ellie's ~
"If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!... Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
Ecclesiastes 4:10, 12

Mine ~
Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away rath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Addison Road

One of my favorite bands is Addison Road. I saw them at Planet Wisdom and loved it. I subscribed for their podcast and started listening to their music and I really liked it. Earlier this month their CD came out and I bought it. 1st I was kinda nervous because I had only heard one song but I get nervous about every CD I buy. But I was glad I bought it. I love every song on the CD. The day I bought it we went out of town so i listened to it about 2 or 3 times on the way there and several times there and back.

I especially love the song What do I know of Holy? and I am currently trying to find out the chords to it so I can play it. Unfortunately I'm not good at kind of stuff. It talks about how we claim to be Christians but we don't really know what it is and we can't fully comprehend the word holy. The words of the chorus are, "What do I know of you, who spoke me in a motion? Where have I even stood , but the shore a long your ocean? Are you fire? Are you fury? Are you sacred? Are you beautiful? What do I know of holy? If you visit Jenny, the lead singer's blog there is an older post about that song and it is amazing.

There are so many other songs that are really good. I would recommend buying the CD. It is defiantly worth it.

"Above them were seraphs, each with six wings: With two the covered their faces, with two the covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is filled with his glory.' " Isaiah 6:2-3

I really have nothing else to say. If you read them tell me how you like them. They are fairly short and really good so I read them fast.

!Hero the Rock Opera and Lifehouse Everything skit

Hey! I accidentally recorded something thinking it was something else one day and it ended up being interesting. I really don't know what to think of it. It is called !Hero the Rock Opera. It is pretty much what would happen if Jesus hadn't come earlier but came in modern times. It has famous singers like Michael Tait from dc Talk, Rebecca St. James, T-Bone, Paul Wright, and a lot of people. I haven't seen the whole thing but I have seen parts. Michael Tait plays the Hero or Jesus. Well it is like a modern Jesus on Earth, in a musical. It is called a Rock Opera. It has like rock, hip hop, and pop. Songs. I really like one that Rebecca St. James sings in.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f18QF-lHXeY
I am listening to that song right now. I think Rebecca St. James is perfect for that.
Well it is interesting. http://www.herouniverse.com/frameset.php?PageName=home That's the website. There are videos on youtube. It might be interesting to own. People were saying that it was very good and moving. Well if y'all are interesting, you can check it out.

There was something else. I put it on my blog. http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=ee73e63418003b47d7d5 I saw this at a teen conference called Winterfest and like it a lot. It is really true. I would love to tell y'all about the skit but it would be better if you watched it. Just warning it isn't bad but it has some tough stuff. (Like drinking, bulimia, self mutulation, and suicide) But it is true and you should watch it. It is amazing. Some people might be confused but I don't know. It is preformed with a song by Lighthouse. It is Everything. I love that song and it is the perfect song for that skit. I bought the song for my iPod and I didn't want to stop listening to that song.

Well I hope you watch the skit at least.

Hey!

I haven't posted in a while and I have something to say.

I love Casting Crowns. All there songs are amazing with such great messages. I love the song Does Anybody Hear Her. It makes me so sad. If you haven't you should and if you have you really need to think about the words. It really does happen. So many people turned away from God because of the church. It shouldn't be that way. The church should be welcoming.

You should watch the video. It is so good. http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=5a2e075a1a4a6e1b9770 This might be one of my favorite music videos ever.

It really does help!! :)

Sometimes what happens even when you read the Bible daily, it seems that It's not doing anything to you. But, it's just like taking vitamins daily.  It feels like the vitamins aren't helping...but they are. When you become sick or something, because you took your vitamins, your immune system is really built-up and helps you  get through your sickness. Just like reading the Bible daily, when something spiritually or mentally happens in your life, you'll be more prepared. You will have more confident in God. You'll have more faith than when you didn't read God's Word. Also, God can teach you things about Him and the world when you spend time in His presence and read His Word. You'll be surprised how God can use you in ways you never thought you could be used when you are setting time for Him in your day . You really need to read his Word!! It really does help!!

1 Corinthians 13:4-5

I have always liked this verse...

1 Corinthians 13:4- 5
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Think about those two verses...
That is how the Bible defines love... Today, people seem to view love in a far different way.

They Don't Understand

Well this is my first post! I'm Brooke, I don't know all of you guys, but I hope we can all become great friends!

This is a really good song that I have been listening to for the past couple days, it's about not judging people, because you don't know what they are going through.

They Don't Understand

Mother riding on a city bus
Kids are yelling kicking up a fuss
Everybody's staring not knowing what she's going through
Somebody said don't you even care?
Do you let 'em do that everywhere?
She slowly turned around, looked up and stared
She said Please forgive them
But they've been up all night
Their father struggled but he finally lost his fight
He went to heaven
In the middle of the night
So please forgive my children

(They don't understand)
Everybody's busy with their own situation
Everybody's lost in their own little world
Bottled up, hurry it up trying to make a dream come true
(They don't understand)
Everybody's living like there ain't no tomorrow
Maybe we should stop and take a little time
Cause you never really know what your neighbor's going through
(They don't understand)

A man driving on the interstate
Slowing down traffic making everybody late
Everybody's staring not knowing what he's going through
Somebody honked from the passing lane
Yellin' out the window, I ain't got all day
The old man looked around and he caught his eye
He said please forgive me
You know it's been a long life
My wife has passed away and my kids don't have the time
I've been left all alone
And its getting hard to drive
So please forgive me children

A man hanging on a wooden cross
Giving everything to save the lost
Everybody's starin' not knowin' what he's going through
Somebody said you don't have a prayer
If you were king, come down from there
The man just turned his head looked up and stared

He said please forgive them
For they have not seen the light
They'll come to know me when I come back to life
Go to heaven, to make everything all right
So please forgive your children

A mother riding on a city bus
Kids are yelling kicking up a fuss
Everybody's staring not knowing what she's going through

Prayer Request

Hey,
This is my first post, and I have a prayer request.
My older brother, and some other people from church, are going on a Mission Trip in Costa Rico in a few weeks, for eight days. They will be staying in a really nice hotel, that is surrounded by a big wall, and armed guards (Ha ha, makes you feel safe, doesn't it?). They will be building a house for Missionaires (sp?). They will have one free day to do as they please.
I would like you to pray for their safety flying there, while their there, and flying back.
Thank you,
Sarah (or Zimri, call me what you wish)

Have any of you ever heard of God Tube?
It is cool! It is a Christian version of You Tube!

The address is http://shoutlife.com

Anyway, I just thought those were cool. Check them out sometime.

Just Because

No one has posted in a few days so I thought I should even though I don't have anything to say. So I thought that I would say something that I heard a couple weeks ago at church. These are 4 "Stress-Relievers"
Step One- Worry about nothing.
"Do not be anxious about anything....." (Philippians vs. 6a)
"Do not fret or have any anxiety..." (Amp)
"Be careful for nothing...." (KJV)
Step Two- Pray about EVERYTHING.
..."but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God." (vs.6b)
"You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are his personal concern." 1 Peter 5:7
God cares about you so you should share everything with Him no matter what it is.
Step Three-Thank God for all things.
"Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thess. 5:18
Step Four-Think about the right things.
"Finally brothers, whatever is true...noble...right...pure...lovely...adirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."
The pastor there gave this and it really helped me because I was really stressed out about some things. I filled in the outline and though I should put it on this.

Okay...

Hmm, well, so since this is the last time I will get to post for a while, I guess I should post something good! LOL. Um...uh...MORE SONG LYRICS!!! Okay...so, yeah, you can tell I love Michael W. Smith and Rebecca St. James a lot, but have I ever posted a song by Amy Grant? I love her music too. This is a song called "I'm Gonna Fly". It is really encouraging, and shows that you should not worry about what other people think, and just be yourself (or 'fly' as the song implies).

All of my friends are happy to stay
Here in this yard day after day
But something inside me has called me away
I don't understand but I know I can't stay
I'm gonna fly
No one knows where
But I'm gonna fly
I'm lighter than air
Cause I have felt for the first time
I can be myself
No more faces to hide behind
Just a smile and a dream that's mine
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly
I'm gonna fly
No one knows where
But I'm gonna fly
I'll soar thru the air
All of my life seems I've waited
For the time to start
Being the person inside of me
Unafraid of being me
No more faces to hide behind
Just a smile and a dream that's mine
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly
If I had my life to live over again
I'd run barefoot, relax a bit more
And I'd talk to my children
And I'd learn how they laugh
And I'd teach them how I've learned to fly
Cause all my life seems I've waited
For the time to start
Being this person inside of me
Unafraid of being me
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly
I'm gonna fly

Hope it helps you 'soar thru the air'! Have an awesome day!

Um...

I have no idea what I am writing, but I feel like doing it. Um...Oh, I need prayers for my mother. The doctors say she is too big, for only six months pregnant. They are going to check the baby, and see if he's fine.

My Quietness

Okay, I just found a verse the completely justifies my quietness!!!!!!!!!!!!
Read this!

1 Peter 3:3-4 3
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

I love this verse! :)

????

Yah, so, I am totally bored and don't know what to post...oh, I know! More song lyrics! LOL, that seems to be my specialty. "Mirror" by Rebecca St. James... Here goes...

May the words of my mouth please you
dear God
May the thoughts of my heart say to you
All that I desire is to be with you forever
Lord I pray - I pray that You
Take me - Make me
Beautiful to You
Create me so - I mirror You
Take me - Make me
An image of You
Lord I want to mirror You
Let the words of my mouth please You
dear God
May the thoughts of my heart be as Yours
Cause all that I desire is to be here with
You forever
Lord I pray - I pray that you
Take me - Make me
Beautiful to You
Create me so - I mirror You
Take me - Make me
An image of You
Lord I want to mirror You
Break me out of my complacency
Breathe Your breath of life into my soul
Into my soul
May the words of my mouth please You
Take me - Make me
Beautiful to You
Create me so - I mirror You
Take me - Make me

Winterfest

I went to a youth convention this weekend called Winterfest. Jeff Walling spoke and he was really good. I got a lot out of this weekend. Taylor Mason was there and he was so funny. He is a Christian ventriloquist. I loved Paco. There was also a sheep who I hadn't seen before but it was good. Kutless was also there. Bean and Bailey were there too. But it was a really good experience. I went to another one called Planet Wisdom last year and it was deeper but I like them both. I decided to talk to a friend who isn't a Christian and possibly write her a letter or something. I just need some advice so please pray for me that I can find the words to tell her. But it was a great weekend with a great message.

Sick

Well, I woke up this morning with the flu/cold (whatever you want to call it). I had a bad headache, stomachache, sore throat, and everything all at once. At the moment I feel better, so I decided to check email and stuff.
Mom also got it and is asleep on the couch, like I have been doing all day until now.
Nivek is getting better (figures) and is playing PS2.
I have been taking tons of vitamins and stuff trying to fight this thing by tomorrow, because I have class and I can't say I want to miss since I am already going to miss next Tuesday anyway (going on a trip). We had to cancel my piano and voice lessons, which I was not happy about (have to miss that next week too).
Anyway, my stomach is starting to hurt again, so I better go :(
Please pray that we all get well soon (by tomorrow).
Bye!

P.S. Sorry about the bad grammar and stuff... my brain is going crazy.

Prayer request

Please pray for Nivek to get over his cold/flu. And please pray for me not to get it any worse than I already do, but to get better. And for my parents not to get it.
We have a skiing trip planned, and my g-parents are coming. If we don't get over it, this could be bad...

"For You" lyrics

This is a really cool song, about friends I guess. It is by Michael W. Smith...

Sittin' in the rain
Water on your brain
Got a hole in your boat
Trying to stay afloat
Has got you down
Ive got a wind in my sail
Rubber boots and a pail
Ill throw you a line
Rest assured that I
Won't ever let you drown

Cause when you're up against the wall
You know I'll be here for you, for you
When you rise and when you fall
I'll always be here for you, for you

When the plans you make
Fall through and take you
For a loop
Or some bird has flown the coop
And left you stranded
Just lean on me
And together you see
Well carry the load
Even if we dont
Quite understand it

Cause when you're up against the wall
You know I'll be here for you, for you
When you rise and when you fall
I'll always be here for you, for you

Cause when you're up against the wall
You know I'll be here for you, for you
When you rise and when you fall
I'll always be here for you, for you

I just wanted to share this to my friends...this is my promise to you. I will always try to be there for you. But always remember that God will ALWAYS be there for you.

I have no idea why...

Okay, like the title says, I have no idea why I am posting this, but I guess God is telling me too.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7

I saw this verse sometime in 2006, and have loved it ever since. It is pretty cool when you are feeling anxious about something, and then you ask God to give you a verse, and this one pops into your head.

The Universe!

Hey! I wrote this some time last year for Addie's "email/newspaper" thingy. Just thought I would post it on here.

The Universe
By Zoe

Have you ever thought about just how enormous the Universe is? Think about how huge the Earth seems to us- so huge that it can take days to travel in a car just across our country alone! Even in an airplane it can still take hours!

Now, take a look at the size difference between the earth and Jupiter- one thousand times the size! Wow! What a difference!

And you just thought Jupiter was huge! Look again!

The sun is massive- about 880,000 miles in diameter. It is about 1,000 times larger than Jupiter, and 1 Million times the size of Earth! If that is just the sun, how big do you think the Solar System alone is? Pretty big huh? I’d say! It just so happens to be just a tiny spec in comparison to the whole Milky Way galaxy! Imagine how big the Milky Way must be!
From what Astronomers have observed, there are about 100 Billion galaxies in the Universe; and they are nowhere close to seeing the whole Universe to the very end. According to the Bible they never will; Jeremiah 31:37 says, “This is what the LORD says: "Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done," declares the LORD.” Since God will never abandon Israel, astronomers will never see the end of the Universe.

Hebrews 11:3
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Do you see how massive the Universe is? How great God is to have created something to incredible and amazing! How small us humans are in comparison, yet God still cares about every single one of us and hears every prayer. He loves us so much…more than we can possibly imagine. He sent his only son to die to save us! That is how great His love for us is!
God is so amazing and powerful; nothing is too big or too difficult for God to handle. If you need help, ask God and trust him. He has a plan for you, and no matter what, if you trust him, everything will be okay.

Jeremiah 31:35
This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the LORD Almighty is his name.

Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (NIV)

Some of my favorite verses...

Well, as the title says, these are only SOME of my favorite verses.

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
(I like that one because of the song Michael Card did based on it.)

Esther 4:14
And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?
(I am not sure why I like this verse so much--maybe because I love Queen Esther so much.)

Psalms 56:4
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
(The last part of it is so encouraging!)

Psalms 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.
(Everyone has to have heard this one.)

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
(A lot of people like this one.)

Ecclesiastes 4:12
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
(Really speaks to you about having trustworthy and Christlike friends.)

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 43:1-2
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine....When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Isaiah 45:3
I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
(This is very cool.)

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
(This I love so much! It speaks volumes.)

Jeremiah 33:3
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
(This is God telling us to call to Him, and He will tell you things you wouldn't ever have known!)

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Hebrews 11:1-3
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I could go on and on and on...but if I did that, no one would read this post because it is so long...So I guess I will go.

Bible verses I found (Inspired to look these up by a debate in class)

Sometimes I wish I talked more. During debates I don't say anything, but I have some arguments... in my head. I just looked these up a few minutes ago though. I couldn't during class because I accidentally forgot my Bible.

Ecclesiastes 5:10
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Favorite Verse

My favorite verses are:

I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. Arise, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.
Psalm 3:6-7

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
For the LORD is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Psalm 95:1-5

Amazing Student

This is amazing...

There was a certain Professor of Religion named Dr. Christensen, a
studious man who taught at a small college in the western United
States.
Dr. Christensen taught the required survey course in Christianity at
this
particular Institution. Every student was required to take this course
his
freshman year, regardless of his or her major.

Although Dr. Christensen tried hard to communicate the essence of the
gospel in his class, he found that most of his students looked upon the
course as nothing but required drudgery. Despite his best efforts, most
students refused to take Christianity seriously.

This year, Dr. Christensen had a special student named Steve. Steve was
only a freshman, but was studying with the intent of going onto
seminary
for the ministry. Steve was popular, he was well liked, and he was an
imposing physical specimen. He was now the starting center on the
school
football team, and was the best student in the professor's class.

One day, Dr. Christensen asked Steve to stay after class so he could
talk
with him. 'How many push-ups can you do?' Steve said, 'I do about 200
every night.'

'200? That's pretty good, Steve,' Dr. Christensen said. 'Do you think
you
could do 300?'

Steve replied, 'I don't know.... I've never done 300 at a time.'

'Do you think you could?' again asked Dr. Christensen.

'Well, I can try,' said Steve.

'Can you do 300 in sets of 10? I have a class project in mind and I
need
you to do about 300 push-ups in sets of ten for this to work. Can you
do
it?

I need you to tell me you can do it,' said the professor.

Steve said, 'Well... I think I can...yeah, I can do it.'

Dr. Christensen said, 'Good! I need you to do this on Friday. Let me
explain what I have in mind.'

Friday came and Steve got to class early and sat in the front of the
room.

When class started, the professor pulled out a big box of donuts. No,
these weren't the normal kinds of donuts, they were the BIG, extra
fancy
kind, with cream centers and frosting swirls.

Everyone was pretty excited it was Friday, the last class of the year,
and
they were going to get an early start on the weekend with a party in
Dr.
Christensen's class.

Dr. Christensen went to the first girl in the first row and asked,
'Cynthia, do you want to have one of these donuts?' Cynthia said,
'Yes.'

Dr. Christensen then turned to Steve and asked, 'Steve, would you do
ten
push-ups so that Cynthia can have a donut?

' 'Sure.' Steve jumped down from his desk to do a quick ten. Then Steve
again sat in his desk. Dr. Christensen put a donut on Cynthia's desk.
Dr.
Christensen then went to Joe, the next person, and asked, 'Joe, do you
want a donut?'

Joe said, 'Yes.' Dr. Christensen asked, 'Steve would you do ten
push-ups
so Joe can have a donut?'

Steve did ten push-ups! , Joe got a donut. And so it went, down the
first
aisle, Steve did ten push-ups for every person before they got their
donut.

Walking down the second aisle, Dr. Christensen came to Scott. Scott was
on
the basketball team, and in as good condition as Steve. He was very
popular and never lacking for female companionship.

When the professor asked, 'Scott do you want a donut?' Scott's reply
was,
'Well, can I do my own push-ups?' Dr. Christensen said, 'No, Steve has
to
do them.' Then Scott said, 'Well, I don't want one then.'

Dr. Christensen shrugged and then turned to Steve and asked, 'Steve,
would
you do ten push-ups so Scott can have a donut he doesn't want?' With
perfect obedience Steve started to do ten push-ups. Scott said, 'HEY! I
said I didn't want one!'

Dr. Christensen said, 'Look! This is my classroom, my class, my desks,
and
these are my donuts. Just leave it on the desk if you don't want it.'
And
he put a donut on Scott's desk.

Now by this time, Steve had begun to slow down a little. He just stayed
on
the floor between sets because it took too much effort to be getting up
and down. You could start to see a little perspiration coming out
around
his brow.

Dr. Christensen started down the third row. Now the students were
beginning to get a little angry. Dr. Christensen asked Jenny, 'Jenny,
do
you want a donut?' Sternly, Jenny said, 'No.' Then Dr. Christensen
asked
Steve, 'Steve, would you do ten more push-ups so Jenny can have a donut
that she doesn't want?'

Steve did ten....Jenny got a donut.

By now, a growing sense of uneasiness filled the room. The students
were
beginning to say 'No' and there were all these uneaten donuts on the
desks.

Steve also had to really put forth a lot of extra effort to get these
push-ups done for each donut. There began to be a small pool of sweat
on
the floor beneath his face, his arms and brow were beginning to get red
because of the physical effort involved.

Dr. Christensen asked Robert, who was the most vocal unbeliever in the
class, to watch Steve do each push up to make sure he did the full ten
push-ups in a set because he couldn't bear to watch all of Steve's work
for all of those uneaten donuts. He sent Robert over to where Steve was
so
Robert could count the set and watch Steve closely.

Dr. Christensen started down the fourth row. During his class, however,
some students from other classes had wandered in and sat down on the
steps
along the radiators that ran down the sides of the room. When the
professor realized this, he did a quick count and saw that now there
were
34 students in the room. He started to worry if Steve would be able to
make it.

Dr. Christensen went on to the next person and the next and the next.
Near
the end of that row, Steve was really having a rough time. He was
taking a
lot more time to complete each set. Steve asked Dr Christensen, 'Do I
have
to make my nose touch on each one?'

Dr. Christensen thought for a moment, 'Well, they're your push-ups. You
are in charge now. You can do them any way that you want.' And Dr.
Christensen went on.

A few moments later, Jason, a recent transfer student, came to the room
and was about to come in when all the students yelled in one voice,
'NO!
Don't come in! Stay out!'

Jason didn't know what was going on. Steve picked up his head and said,
'No, let him come.'

Professor Christensen said, 'You realize that if Jason comes in you
will
have to do ten push-ups for him?' Steve said, 'Yes, let him come in.
Give
him a donut.'

Dr. Christensen said, 'Okay, Steve, I'll let you get Jason's out of the
way right now. Jason, do you want a donut?' Jason, new to the room,
hardly
knew what was going on. 'Yes,' he said, 'give me a donut.'
'Steve, will you do ten push-ups so that Jason can have a donut?' Steve
did ten push-ups very slowly and with great effort. Jason, bewildered,
was
handed a donut and sat down.

Dr. Christensen finished the fourth row, and then started on those
visitors seated by the heaters. Steve's arms were now shaking with each
push-up in a struggle to lift himself against the force of gravity. By
this time sweat was profusely dropping off of his face, there was no
sound
except his heavy breathing; there was not a dry eye in the room.

The very last two students in the room were two young women, both
cheerleaders, and very popular. Dr. Christensen went to Linda, the
second
to last, and asked, 'Linda, do you want a donut?' Linda said, very
sadly,
'No, thank you.' Professor Christensen quietly asked,
'Steve, would you do ten push-ups so that Linda can have a donut she
doesn't want?' Grunting from the effort, Steve did ten very slow
push-ups for Linda.

Then Dr Christensen turned to the last girl, Susan. 'Susan, do you want
a
donut?' Susan, with tears flowing down her face, began to cry. 'Dr.
Christensen, why can't I help him?'

Dr. Christensen, with tears of his own, said, 'No, Steve has to do it
alone. I have given him this task, and he is in charge of seeing that
everyone has an opportunity for a donut whether they want it or not.
When
I decided to have a party this last day of class, I looked at my grade
book. Steve here is the only student with a perfect grade.
Everyone else has failed a test, skipped class, or offered m e inferior
work.

Steve told me that in football practice, when a player messes up he
must
do push-ups. I told Steve that none of you could come to my party
unless
he paid the price by doing your push ups. He and I made a deal for your
sakes.'

'Steve, would you do ten push-ups so Susan can have a donut?' As Steve
very slowly finished his last push-up, with the understanding that he
had
accomplished all that was required of him, having done 350 push-ups,
his
arms buckled beneath him and he fell to the floor.

Dr. Christensen turned to the room and said. 'And so it was, that our
Savior, Jesus Christ, on the cross, pled to the Father, 'Into Thy hands
I
commend My spirit.' With the understanding that He had done everything
that was required of Him, He yielded up His life. And like some of
those
in this room, many of us leave the gift on the desk, uneaten.'

Two students helped Steve up off the floor and to a seat, physically
exhausted, but wearing a thin smile.

'Well done, good and faithful servant,' said the professor, adding 'Not
all sermons are preached in words.'

Turning to his class, the professor said, 'My wish is that you might
understand and fully comprehend all the riches of grace and mercy that
have been given to you through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior
Jesus
Christ. He spared not His only Begotten Son, but gave Him up for us
all,
for the whole Church, now and forever. Whether or not we choose to
accept
His gift to us, the price has been paid.' 'Wouldn't you be foolish and
ungrateful to leave it lying on the desk?'

Share this with someone. It's bound to touch their heart and
demonstrate
Salvation in a very special way.
